SAVE THE DATE: August 28th, 2010

Welcome to Lori & Ryan's Wedding website! This site should give you all the information you will need in order to join us for our special day!

Sunday Brunch at the Merhige's: Aug. 29, 11am-2pm

To our guests who are staying in Beacon area hotels on Saturday night:

We want you to have fun AND have breakfast, as it's the most important meal of the day. But you already knew that.

Please join us for an informal continental breakfast (aka the 'hangover brunch') at the Merhige's on Shebanie Ridge on Sunday. Arrive between 11am and 2pm to enjoy coffee, bagels, mimosas, etc. and see the bride and groom off before they leave for their honeymoon! (yeah, we're outta here first thing Monday.)

We hope to see you for the post-party recap!
Love,
Lori & Ryan

Afterparty at Shebanie Ridge

Hello wedding guests! We hope you are looking forward to a great time as much as we are, and are ready to celebrate this whirlwind journey in style.

Our reception at the Dutchess Manor is set to end around 10pm, and we know that for some of you, that's pretty early. We are organizing a very informal afterparty back at the Merhige's on Shebanie Ridge, starting after the reception ends, and ending around 1am.

Feel free to come prepared with beverages of your choice; we will also have some beer on hand. There will be a fire pit stocked and ready for your lit match, plenty of land to wander around, as well as a porch to sit on.

Parking will be along the edge of the driveway; we are hoping we can accommodate all of the cars - we may have to get creative in that regard. Taxis can also be called to make pickups and take people back to their hotels or the train station. Of course, making friends also sometimes means setting up a carpool! If you'd rather just drink hard and take a cab back, call the Beacon Cab Company: 845.625.6422

Things to do in Beacon, NY

If you're coming for our wedding and staying for the weekend, perhaps you'll have some time to spare to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and attractions around Beacon, NY! Again, if you are spending the night or the weekend in the Beacon area, please LET US KNOW YOUR PLANS!

Here are a few things to do and see in the area - click on links for more information:

DIA: Beacon
DIA:Beacon houses Dia Art Foundation's renowned collection of art from the 1960s to the present. Located near the waterfront in what used to be Nabisco's packaging facility, DIA:Beacon has become a destination for those interested in seeing 20th century modern art outside of NYC.

Retro Arcade Museum
A true rarity -- it contains arcade games and other items from the 1950s to 1970s, all available to play as part of the admission price. Early Atari games, Pinball machines, U-Boat arcade games, and dozens of others, all lovingly collected and cared-for. The Museum is right in the middle of Main Street in Beacon, surrounded by other shops. At the time of this posting, they were temporarily closed, but call or email them from their website to find out the deal.

Bannerman's Castle and Pollepel Island
You may catch a glimpse of the amazing ruins of Bannerman's castle as you drive up 9D North toward Beacon. A gorgeous island in the Hudson with an incredible history, tours of Bannerman's Island are available from May through October. See the website for contact info on how to book a tour.

Mt. Beacon hiking trails
There are several short and longer hikes that can be taken from the base of Mt. Beacon, about a mile north of our ceremony site on Shebanie Ridge. Spectacular views of the Hudson Valley can be had from many areas on and around Mt. Beacon. This link is to one of the many websites out there detailing trails, maps, reviews, etc.

Village of Cold Spring
A small quaint Victorian village whose Main Street boasts antique shops, clothing stores, coffee houses and restaurants with outdoor dining, Cold Spring is only a few miles south of Beacon. A nice place to stroll around and spend an afternoon. There are also hiking trails and a river's edge park with Gazebo; walk right up to the Hudson for gorgeous views of the river and surrounding landscape.

IMPORTANT! Parking/Transportation Tips for our Wedding

Dear guests,
As parking is extremely limited at our ceremony site on Shebanie Ridge in Beacon, we are asking that all guests park 1 mile to the south in the parking lot of the Dutchess Manor, which is where the reception will be held. There will be a shuttle bus taking guests back and forth from the ceremony to the reception, both before and after the ceremony. The Dutchess Manor is located at 263 Route 9D in Beacon, NY. Please visit their website at www.dutchessmanor.com for links to maps and turn-by-turn driving directions.

IMPORTANT: Please plan on arriving early (around 2:30pm) so you can catch the shuttle - this way you won't be late for our ceremony, and will be able to enjoy pre-ceremony cocktails!

FOR THOSE OF YOU TRAVELING BY TRAIN to and from Beacon, there are a few taxi services available to get you to your hotel, and to our ceremony/reception. One reliable service is BEACON CAB COMPANY: 845.625.6422. From the train station to the Courtyard by Marriott, a cab ride costs $13. From the Courtyard by Marriott to the Dutchess Manor, a cab ride costs approx. $25 for 2 people, and $3 per additional person. BEACON CAB COMPANY also has a couple of vans that can accommodate 5-6 people at a time; the cost is around $35 - $38 for a van ride. Call ahead of time to request a van pickup if you are traveling in a group and splitting the costs, and tell the owner that you will be going to Lori's event at the Dutchess Manor. Perhaps he can work out a deal with you.

BEACON CAB COMPANY: 845.625.6422
Look for the cabs with the mountain/lighthouse logo - and don't forget to discuss the set price beforehand!

Thank you! Please contact us prior to August 28 if you have any questions.
